2007: The legend is born

The first Lynx Rave RE, based on the Rave 440 factory racer, brought Lynx’s racing heritage straight to consumers. With its Rotax 593 H.O. engine, PPS rear suspension, A-VRC front end and sturdy and widely adjustable KYB shocks, it delivered true race winning performance out of the box. Its unmatched capability in rough terrain, exceptional suspension capacity and excellent handling made it an instant success in Scandinavia – winning snowmobile magazine tests, races and riders’ hearts. The Rave RE quickly became the benchmark for trail sport sleds and a true Lynx legend.

The Rotax 800 Power Tek engine option became available for the model year 2008 for the ultimate trail performance.

The very first Rave RE was built in the R-EVO platform. It represented the culmination of Lynx’s renowned R&D program, infused with the team’s extensive experience and success in snowcross and cross-country racing.

2009: The era of REX and E-TEC engines

The Rave RE entered the new REX platform with a lightweight, fully redesigned chassis, a fresh look, and revolutionary engine technology. The Rotax 600 E-TEC elevated the comfort and fuel economy of 600cc engines to a new level.

In 2011, a powerful and modern 800 E-TEC engine with direct injection was introduced, and for model year 2012 the Rave RE got a longer, 3270 mm track at a time when most competitors still relied on 3050 mm tracks. The first version of the iconic Blade ski was launched in 2013.

With the REX platform, the Rave RE gained a fresh design, advanced Rotax engine technology, and an extended track for the first time in 2011.

2014: REX2 – The World’s Finest Snowmobile

For the model year 2014, the REX2 chassis brought significant improvements to the Rave RE’s riding ergonomics and wind protection. Its new rounded design in red-black coloration made a strong impression, and a Finnish snowmobile magazine MK-lehti even compared the sled’s appearance to an Italian superbike, headlining their test ride article: “The World’s Finest Snowmobile?”

For 2015, the legendary PPS rear suspension was upgraded to the PPS2 version, which was 3,5 kg lighter than its predecessor while offering a quieter and more comfortable ride. The same year also saw the introduction of the A‑LFS+ front suspension with taller and lighter spindles.

In 2014, the Rave RE was upgraded to the REX2 platform.

2018: Radien – Total revamp

In 2018, the Rave RE moved to the Radien chassis as Lynx celebrated its 50th anniversary. The new, lighter chassis moved the rider forward while positioning the engine closer to the center, and the 165-hp Rotax 850 E-TEC took performance to a new level. In 2019, the Radien chassis was paired with the new Rotax 600R E-TEC engine, strengthening the Rave RE’s lead in the 600 cc trail sport class. For 2020, the Rave RE adopted a longer, 3500 mm track for improved stability, while the Rave Enduro special edition was introduced with a 3300 mm track length, tailored for cross-country races.

A milestone in the Rave RE’s history came in 2022 when the sled, long dominant on Nordic trails, was launched in the North American market. At the same time, a lighter, upgraded PPS3 rear suspension was introduced. The model quickly gained strong popularity across the Atlantic, and the respected SnowTrax TV named the Rave RE Real World Sled of the Year.

The Radien chassis significantly improved the Rave RE’s rider ergonomics.

2024: Radien2 – All-new technology. Core unchanged.

The 2024 model year marked a major leap for the Rave RE. The crown jewel of Lynx’s trail sport sleds moved to the Radien2 platform, designed for active riding. The update brought improved rider ergonomics, a powerful 4-piston brake, a modern 10.25″ Touchscreen Display, and high-performance LED headlights. The PPS3 rear and LFS+ front suspension, paired with three-way adjustable KYB PRO 46 HLCR Kashima shocks, were tuned for even more aggressive riding.

For 2026, the Rave RE received the LFS-R front suspension, significantly improving cornering, and the 180-hp Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo R engine option, making it the most powerful Rave RE ever.

The shift to the Radien2 platform brought major technological upgrades to the Rave RE, including powerful LED headlights and a modern 10.25" Touchscreen Display.

In the 2027 season, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of this iconic trail sport sled. The special anniversary edition features a unique color scheme inspired by the original 2007 Rave RE model and a completely new Rotax 600RR E-TEC engine option. Updated shock calibrations make the Rave RE even faster and bring it back to its roots: factory-ready, it’s more prepared than ever for aggressive riding on the most demanding, rugged trails.
